What is Pelikan Hub?

Every year, Pelikan (the pen and ink maker) hosts a free event held around the world on the same date (October 24 this year). Any city that garners at least 7 registrants may host an event (i.e., hub). This event is basically a pen club meeting sponsored by Pelikan, who usually provides some freebies. (Please note that these hubs are Pelikan events and not Seattle Pen Club events.) Hubs are hosted by volunteer "hub masters."

Pelikan summarizes it this way: "Basically, this is an event by fans for fans, with Pelikan providing support."

Information specific to the greater King County area.

Currently, Seattle and Bothell have hubs registered from previous years. If you register to attend in one city and then change your mind, you CAN change your location later.

Pelikan will officially announce volunteer hub masters and hub locations closer to the event. The most important thing right now is that we register for the locations that we are interested in.

What is new this year?

Folks living on the south side are trying to organize a south end hub this year! Per the Pelikan website, "When a proposed Hub reaches 7 participants or more, we will approve the Hub for the city." So, if you'd like to attend a Pelikan Hub south of Seattle in October, please register as an individual and type in "SeaTac" for the "wished hub city."

Please note! SeaTac MAY NOT BE THE FINAL LOCATION! A venue has not been booked yet! But at least 7 participants are needed to register for Pelikan to approve a new hub, and if everyone interested in a south-of-Seattle hub registers for SeaTac, then that guarantees the required number. The Southside Hub will be somewhere between SeaTac and Federal Way.

But I don't live in South King County, Pierce County, Snohomish County, etc.

If you are looking for a hub location further south (or in a different area entirely), you are more than welcome to volunteer as a hub master, choose a location, and campaign for registrants via our Facebook group, our Discord server, or whatever platform works! Again, these events are NOT officially affiliated with Seattle Pen Club, so you don't need anyone's permission (except Pelikan and your chosen venue) to host. Build your community in your own backyard!

Other questions? Please review the Pelikan Hub website.
