New Meeting Space in September! (Updated)

(This is an updated version of our June 8 announcement that includes more specific information on finding both the Spartan Recreation Center and the Cascade Room.)

Thanks to Club Secretary Don Hall (who is also sponsoring the cost for the first few months), we have a bigger space for our Northside meetings!

Starting September 19, our Northside meetings on the third Saturday of the month will meet in the Cascade Room at Spartan Recreation Center in Shoreline! (202 NE 185th Street, Shoreline, WA 98155)

The Spartan Recreation Center offers easy access to public transit (with sidewalks!) and ample parking. It is a roughly 10-minute walk from the Shoreline North light rail station. Screenshot from Google Maps.

The Cascade Room has capacity for 50 people and provides access to a sink. It is an approximately 10-minute walk from the Shoreline North/185th Street station, near several bus lines, very close to I-5, and has a large parking lot. (Be aware that there are TWO light rail stations in Shoreline, so be sure to exit at the correct station. Many thanks to resident transit expert, John R., for noting this!)

To find the Cascade Room itself, be sure to enter the correct building! The Spartan Recreation Center is part of a complex of buildings that shares a parking lot with a senior center and a school. The rec center and its main entrance are on the right side of the parking lot when entering from 185th Street. Enter the main entrance, turn left at the front desk, and the Cascade Room will be the first door on the left.

We currently have the room booked for September through December at our regular meeting time of 11am to 1pm on the third Saturday of the month. If folks like it and we are able to raise the funds through our membership drive (details will be published in the next couple of weeks), we will continue to meet there.

Unfortunately, the room isn't available in July and August due to annual summer programming, so we will need a different space for those meetings. We might return to the Stadler Room for summer meetings. (Summer 2027 location TBD!)
